Pop / Rock Concerts

Once again Rocklab, in partnership with the SCRIPT - Service de Coordination de la Recherche et de l'innovation pédagogiques et technologiques, will bring you musical edutainment for school classes with be a HEARo - Pop/Rock Concerts, hosted by the X-Ray Orchestra.

During these guided concert listening sessions at the Club of the Rockhal, the X-Ray Orchestra will present the audience with the key elements of pop/rock songs. Through a series of exercises, quizzes and interactive games, the listening capacities of the young ones will be tested in a playful manner. The band will perform popular and modern hits by artists such as the Imagine Dragons, Alice Merton, Dua Lipa, Welshly Arms or Charlie Puth.

The concert will not only be based on content featuring in books of the official musical education programme, illustrated by live music, but high quality projections will transform this show into a real Edutainment event. This original and interactive concept will help children to get a deeper understanding on how a modern pop/rock band operates on stage and to come to grips with concepts such as rhythm, melody and harmony, enabling them to acquire an adapted vocabulary to speak about music in an objective way.

Target audience: school classes with pupils aged 10 - 12 ("Cycles" 3.2, 4.1 & 4.2 of fundamental school)

4 shows: 15, 16, 17 & 18 May

Start: 09h30

At the Club of the Rockhal

Music Workshops

How does a pop/rock band work? What does each instrument do? What is a pop song made of? The answer to these questions and more will be revealed during a series of workshops organized by Rocklab and hosted by the X-Ray Orchestra. School classes, Maison Relais and families can participate and learn some musical fundamentals in a fun and easy way.

During several interactive and playful group exercises, the participants will thus get a closer look at how percussion (drums), voice and stringed instruments (guitar & bass) work and what lies behind such concepts as rhythm, melody and harmony. How to create a rhythm with body percussion, how to change the sound of a stringed instrument using guitar effect pedals, how to come up with the right backing vocals to support the lead singer - the X-Ray orchestra will tackle these and more elements during their demonstrations.
