Battles - Artist Talk

Rocklab (Music & Resources Rockhal) is pleased to welcome you to yet another artist talk. After Modeselektor, Giorgio Moroder, Mouse on Mars and Sascha Ring from Apparat, New-York based electronic art-rock legends Battles will take over the main room of the Rockhalstudio for an exclusive artist & tech talk. Ian, Dave and John will walk you through their personal and unconventional approach to songwriting, recording, technology and performing, as well as expanding on their Ableton process, as seen in the documentary "The Art of Repetition" from their new album "La Di Da Di". Furthermore, the trio will give necessary tips and tricks including a questions and answers round, which will give the participants the possibility to get even more information on specific points and expand their knowledge on the several discussed subjects.

The artist talk will be hosted by Yves Stephany (Radio 100,7)

At Rockhalstudio
Sunday, 1 November 2015
From 18.00 to 18.45

Ticket: 15 EUR / 10 EUR (upon presentation of a valid concert ticket)

Presale is closed. Tickets are still available at the Box Office from 17h30 on the day of the talk. Follow the sign postings "Battles Artist Talk".

About Battles:

Battles have been anything but a conventional band. As a result of a constant forward-momentum – musically and conceptually – their albums have placed the band amongst the most innovative of Warp Records’ roster. Battles’ upcoming album, released on September 18th, named “La Di Da Di”, is their most future-leaning yet; a new piece in an un-planned trilogy that began with Battles as a four-piece on Mirrored, continued with a bold leap into collaboration on Gloss Drop, now culminating in John Stanier (of Helmet and Tomahawk), Dave Konopka (of Lynx) and Ian Williams (of Don Caballero and Storm & Stress) pushing the sonic limits of how conventional instruments and electronics meld. Catch them live at the Rockhal on 1 November right after their tech talk at the Rockhalstudio.
